we were skeptical when Avene changed the formula for this product for 2010. But once I used it, my critcism died. The texture is absolutely lovely, drying to a true soft-matte finish, and the PPD is even higher than the old formula!
Avene Emulsion Very High Protection offers superior UVB and UVA protection through its organo-physical sunscreen filters, Tinosorb M and Tinosorb S. Tinosorb is half-physical, half-chemical and is substantially less irritating than sunscreens containing Mexoryl. Avene Emulsion also contains a new generation of "MPI-SORB" and Pre-Tocopheryl Anti-Free Radical protection. Perfect for extreme exposure or for those suffering with sun sensitivity or hyperpigmentation problems.
Avene Emulsion is light and cosmetically elegant. It is non-greasy and absorbs rapidly, drying to a soft-matte finish with no white residue. It is non-comedongenic and recommended by the manufacturer as suitable for oily skin due to the addition of pumpkin seed extract, which regulates sebum secretion. The benefit of the pumpkin seed extract is that it is rich in essential fatty acids (EFA’s). These EFAs provide anti-inflammatory properties and regulate sebum (oil) production. If you are too oily, it will reduce the over activity of the sebaceous glands; if you are too dry, the EFAs will bump up the oil production of these oil producing glands. In addition, pumpkin seeds contain high amounts of minerals, especially zinc. Zinc is imperative to the healing process of the skin and is a fantastic antioxidant. All skin types will love this sunscreen's finish. Since it is light, if your skin needs more moisture, simply apply a moisturizer underneath.
