We were skeptical when Avene changed the formula for this product for 2010. But once I used it, my critcism died. The texture is absolutely lovely, drying to a true soft-matte finish, and the PPD is even higher than the old formula!

(Note: New French regulations prohibits sunscreens from being labeled as more than SPF 50+. That actual tested SPF of this sunscreen is 60. Avene guarantees that the PPD of its sunscreens are greater than or equal to 1/3 of the SPF, which means a PPD of at least 20 and with the new ingredients, the PPD is actually greater than 20).

Avene Emulsion Very High Protection offers superior UVB and UVA protection through its sunscreen filters, Tinosorb M and Tinosorb S. Tinosorb is half-physical, half-chemical and is substantially less irritating than sunscreens containing Mexoryl. Avene Emulsion also contains a new generation of "MPI-SORB" and Pre-Tocopheryl Anti-Free Radical protection.
